Product Description Used extensively as a reference source for the FAA Knowledge Exams, this resource includes basic knowledge that is essential for all pilots, from beginning students to those pursuing advanced pilot certificates. This updated guide covers a wide array of fundamental subjects, including principles of flight, aircraft and engine structures, charts and graphs, performance calculations, weather theory, reports, forecasts, and flight manuals. Required reading for pilots for more than 25 years and formerly published as an Advisory Circular (AC 61-23C), this new edition is now listed as an official FAA Handbook.

| Customer Reviews: New Pilot's Reference August 15, 2010 Arthur Goodrich (NE US) This book is intended to introduce a 13 year old boy to aviation. It covers a wide variety of topics and is presented to a level of detail that will inform, spark a curiosity, but not overwhelm a reader new to the subject. Based on the 13 year old's responses and eagerness to learn more, I think the book has justifiably served it's purpose.
Great reference book! August 2, 2010 R. Becker This book is a great reference book for those of us just learning to fly.
I would just recommend buying it to keep and use in the future.
Must better than I expected September 18, 2009 M. Cagley 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was just looking to increase my general knowledge when I bought this book. I was amazed at how well the information is presented in a very clear and well written way. The illustrations are excellent. The explanation of the various forces that combine to produce lift is the best I have ever seen. You don't have to be an aeronautical engineer to understand it.
