Dreamweaver CS4 for Dummies July 1, 2010 Anita L. Reid (georgia United States) Like most Dummie book this is outstanding and easy to use. Regular manuals tend to be to technical and this one cuts to the chase. Love Dummy books and generally use them more so than the manual that comes with software.
Ok for Dreamweaver but leave the CSS out May 18, 2010 Penny Lane (CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
There are plenty of step by step instructions in this book, but it is very deficient in explaining concept. For those of us who really want to understand why we are doing something, it comes up short. I believe this is because you really cannot teach Dreamweaver without the student having a sound understanding of CSS, and CSS is a huge beast unto itself. This book tries to be two things: a Dreamweaver tutorial and a CSS tutorial, with a little web design thrown in. It does a pretty good job of explaining basic Dreamweaver functionality, but it comes up short on CSS for someone who has no experience whatsoever. I would suggest reworking this book to remove all of the CSS descriptions (leave that for CSS for Dummies) and then focus on Dreamweaver features, with a warning to potential readers that they had better bone up on CSS and web design first.
A Good Book BUT.... March 16, 2010 D. CHANG 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a green head rookie when comes to web site designing, creation. With help of this book I created a dynamic web sit in 3 days, not to impress anyone, but impress upon. This book do give you all the needed information. Only thing I am not happy with the book is it only covers IIS server (microsoft product) but not Apache server (open source). That is a whole day I wasted on searching on "How-To Apache".
A bit too basic February 15, 2010 L. Carr (Boston ,MA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this book hoping to learn some insider tricks. I've been using Dreamweaver (self-taught) for basic web page development, but have a strong programming background. I wanted to see if Dreamweaver got in the way of or enhanced my efficiency. This book is better for someone who has never used Dreamweaver and needs to learn things from the bottom up. I'm more interested in learning advanced tips and tricks, which aren't the main focus of the book.
Dreamweaver for Dummies is really helpful January 24, 2010 B. Shaeffer (Smyrna, GA) Janine Warner's book, Dreamweaver CS4 for Dummies is very helpful. I've been trying to learn Dreamweaver for a year now using various self-taught methods. I did some online tutorials including a very good one from Lynda.com. But having the book is so great because I can look things up a lot easier than searching around online. It's good both as a teaching tool and then as a reference when you're trying to remember how to do something again. The book is rich with specific examples which really helps the most.
